Prof Nola Dippenaar provides insight into how to take effective control of your health and an intriguing exploration to understanding the factors affecting one’s health. Your business needs you and your staff to be healthy!
She has developed a unique approach to explaining in layman’s terms the integrative nature of health. What happens inside the body, what chemical processes take place, for instance when you stress, laugh, or sleep? How do your genes affect your health? What do blood tests reveal of your state of health?
Nola currently consults privately to companies and individuals on the physiology and biochemistry of the human body; including health aspects, all of which empowers individuals to take responsibility for their health. She established a company called “Health Insight” with offices in Pretoria and Cape Town and is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Pretoria.
Previously a lecturer and Professor at Medunsa, where she completed her PhD in the field of essential fatty acids and cancer, she moved to the University of Pretoria, responsible for the integration of Physiology and Biochemistry in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses.
She has been voted lecturer of the year by the UP medical and dental students on two occasions and has delivered many local and overseas papers at conferences. Her present main area of research and interest lies in the field of insulin resistance and Metabolic Syndrome. She has a particular interest in carnitine metabolism in children and adults…..low muscle tone (hypotonia) and how to handle this condition.

The South African Ubuntu Foundation’s enlightening vision for the new South Africa and its regional neighbours is a world in which all people: embrace peace, one another’s equality; embody the essence and spirit of Ubuntu in their work, family, and community lives; are encouraged and inspired to use their inherent abilities to the fullest, and find their passion for, participate and contribute fully in, and benefit fairly from South Africa’s growing prosperity.
Our organization hosts monthly networking breakfasts and lunches which aim to bring business people together in an effort to foster the spirit of Ubuntu. We encourage you to visit our events page to find out about upcoming opportunities.
The Cardinal spirit of Ubuntu is expressed in Xhosa as “Umntu ngumntu ngabanye abantu” in English as “people are people thru other people,” or “I am human because I belong to the human community and I view and treat others accordingly.” It is an African word for a universal concept which is fair and compassionate approach to a collective respect for human dignity.
